The Cincinnati Observatory Center is a non-profit 501c3 and all donations are fully tax-deductible. Please note that all donations are registered as Memberships to the Observatory. Memberships are still entirely tax deductible for the donor. 

While we revel in our historic telescopes, our education programs make the Observatory a unique and vibrant institution. In 2018, our education programs reached 77 schools and 12,000 students through field trips, outreach visits to schools, and our public programs. This includes over 4,500 under served students.

We also work to maintain our historic 1873 and 1904 buildings so that we can continue showing over 34,000 people annually the stars, planets and more! Membership revenue help us to keep our National Historic Landmark facility in good working order and preserving these incredible treasures.

Donation Opportunities

Matching Gifts –Many companies with a strong local presence will match their employees\\' charitable donations. For those supporting the Observatory, this includes Membership fees, which are entirely tax deductible, as well as unrestricted contributions.

To ensure matching gift funds for the Observatory, check with your employer! There will likely be a basic form for you to fill out, and the Observatory staff will confirm your donation. It takes little effort, but can yield big results in support of our work in STEM education for young people and adults in our region!

Planned Giving –  Make a plan to leave a lasting contribution for future generations - to experience the “Wow!” of looking through telescopes or learning about the stars above. Below is some sample language for inclusion in your estate planning documents. 

 “I give [the sum of ____________ dollars ($_____________)][___ percent of my estate/trust] to the Cincinnati Observatory Center (FEIN: 31-1665954), an Ohio nonprofit corporation, of Cincinnati, Ohio, or its successor in interest, for its general charitable purposes.”
